 যখন Verb এর Past Participle এর পূর্বে having যুক্ত হয়ে তা একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective এর কাজ করে তখন তাকে Perfect Participle বলে। যেমন –

• Having finished my work, I went to meet him.
• Having lost my way, I went to the wrong place.
• Having read the letter, I came to know about your health.

 

উপরের বাক্যগুলোতে Past Participle এর আগে Having যুক্ত হয়েছে। ফলে “finished, lost, read” এই Past Participle গুলো একই সাথে Adjective ও Verb এর দায়িত্ব পালন করেছে। তাই “finished, lost ও read” হলো Perfect Participle।

 

নোটঃ কোনো Participle যদি Finite Verb এর Subject এর সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত না হয়ে অন্য একটি Subject এর সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত হয় তখন তাকে Nominative Absolute বলে। যেমন –

• The rain having stopped, we started the game.
• The sun having risen, the fog disappeared.

 

উপরের বাক্য দুটিতে “stopped ও risen” হলো Nominative Absolute. কারণ এই Participle দুটি Finite Verb এর Subject (the rain এবং the sun) এর সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত না হয়ে অন্য দুটি Subject (we এবং the fog) এর সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত হয়েছে।
