A fish market is a market where people goes to buy and sell fishes. It is a very important part of a market in town or village of Bangladesh. Everyday it attracts a large number of customers. Generally fish sellers sit in rows on a platform. There they sit with their big baskets full of different types of fishes. They take their fishes in small quantities out of their baskets and arrange them for sale. The buyers bargain with them over the prices of fishes. There is always a tug of war between the sellers and the buyers regarding the price. The sellers generally demand more than double the prices they would ultimately accept for their fishes. The bargaining continually goes on between the buyers and sellers of fishes. This din makes the fish market the most noisy place in the whole market. Despite noisy and unhygienic atmosphere a fish market attracts numbers of people as fish is one of our main food items.

বাংলা অনুবাদ : মাছের বাজার এমন একটি বাজার যেখানে মানুষ মাছ কেনাবেচার জন্য যায়। বাংলাদেশের শহরে বা গ্রামে এটি বাজারের একটি অতি প্রয়োজনীয় এলাকা। প্রতিদিনই এই বাজার অনেক ক্রেতাকে আকর্ষণ করে থাকে। সাধারণত মাছ বিক্রেতারা একটু উঁচু বেদীর ওপর সারিবদ্ধভাবে বসে। নানান জাতের মাছ ভর্তি বড় বড় ঝুড়ি নিয়ে সেখানে তারা বসে। ঝুড়ি থেকে অল্প কিছু মাছ তারা বিক্রির জন্যে সাজিয়ে রাখে। ক্রেতাগণ মাছ ক্রয়ের সময় বিক্রেতাদের সঙ্গে দর কষাকষি করে। মাছের দাম নিয়ে ক্রেতা-বিক্রেতার মধ্যে সর্বদা প্রতিযোগিতা চলে। আসলে বিক্রেতারা যে দামে মাছ বিক্রি করে সাধারণত তার দ্বিগুণেরও বেশি দাম হাঁকে। মাছ বিক্রেতা এবং ক্রেতার মধ্যে অনবরত এ ধরনের দর কষাকষি চলতেই থাকে। এই হট্টগোলের ফলে সারা বাজারের মধ্যে মাছের বাজারটি মহা হৈ চৈ-এ পরিপূর্ণ থাকে। এত সব হৈ-হুল্লোড় এবং অস্বাস্থ্যকর পরিবেশ সত্ত্বেও মাছের বাজার বিপুল সংখ্যক লোককে আকৃষ্ট করে কারণ মাছ আমাদের প্রধান খাদ্যাভ্যাসের মধ্যে অন্যতম ।
