Habib, Borguna 18 August 20 – A severe whirlpool called Mahasen rising from Mayanmar hit the southern coast including Patuakhali, Barguna, and Feni of Bangladesh on 16 August. The people were precautionary about Mahasen to have occurred and the govt. along with some voluntary organizations took massive measures to prevent any havoc and tremendous effect. MET office announced cautionary signal No. 7 to be followed. The cyclone occurred on 16 August very weakly to its nature and blew over Broguna, Patuakhali, and Feni killing 12 people and destroying houses, trees, crops, etc. in the affected districts. The govt. and the concerned organizations rushed to the spot and soon took people steps to meet the situation.
