প্রিয় ভিউয়ারস, আশা করি ভালো আছেন। আমিও আল্লাহর রহমতে ভালো আছি। আজকের ব্লগে আপনাদের মাঝে ইংরেজি ব্যাকরণের “Modal Auxiliary Verb – Shall / Should” এর ব্যবহার নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করবো। আশা করি আপনারা উপকৃত হবেন তাহলে শুরু করা যাক।

Shall / Should এর ব্যবহার

Shall এর ব্যবহার –

Rule 1: ভবিষ্যতের কোনো ঘটনা / কাজ বুঝাতে সাধারণত I/we এর সাথে shall ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – We shall do the sum

Rule 2: Requests for order/ advice, offers/suggestions বুঝাতে I/we এর পরে shall ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন –

Request for Order: Where shall I keep the book?

Advice: Which one shall I take?

Offer: Shall I help you to get on the bus?

Suggestion: Shall we solve the problem?

Rule 3: Command, threat, authoritative order, বুঝাতে 2^nd এবং 3^rd Person – এ shall ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন –

Command: You shall carry out my order.

Threat: You shall be punished.

Authoritative order: The market shall remain closed on Sunday.

Rule 4: বক্তার Intention (উদ্দেশ্য/অভিপ্রায়) বুঝাতে 2^nd ও 3^rd Person – এ shall ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – You shall have a nice pen.

Rule 5: বক্তার Determination বুঝাতে 2^nd ও 3^rd Person – এ shall ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন –

The weak shall be given equal rights.

Should এর ব্যবহার –

Should এর রূপান্তর
Negative	Should not / Shouldn’t
Interrogative	Should I/you/he
Negative - Interrogative	Should I not / Shouldn’t I?

 

Rule 1: Obligation (বাধ্যবাধকতা) / Duty (কর্তব্য) বুজাতে। যেমন – We should obey our parents.

Rule 2: Advice / Recommendation প্রকাশ করতে। যেমন – He should stop smoking.

Rule 3: To make the polite request: Should I help you?

Rule 4: উদ্দেশ্য বুঝাতে so that এবং in order that এর পরে should বসে। যেমন – We had to arrive early so that we should secure the best seats.

Rule 5: আশংকা বুঝাতে Purpose Clause – এ lest এর পরে should বসে। যেমন – He walked fast lest he should miss the train.

Rule 6: That clause এ – anxious, sorry, happy, concerned, delighted, absurd, amazing, annoying, ludicrous, odd, ridiculous, strange, surprising ইত্যাদি adjective এর পরে should ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – I am delighted that he should take that view.

Rule 7: That Clause এ – advise, agree, arrange, ask, beg, command, decide, demand, determine, insist, order, propose, recommend, request, stipulate, suggest, urge ইত্যাদি verb এর পরে should ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – I ordered that the car should be kept locked.

Rule 8: Present, Past এবং Future tense এ অনুমান বুঝাতে should ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন –

It should be raining now. (I expect it is raining).

He should have reached home by now. (I expect he has reached)

Rule 9: বর্তমান সময়ের obligation প্রকাশ করার ক্ষেত্রে should ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – He should be reading now. (But he is not reading)

Rule 10: অতীতের obligation প্রকাশ করার ক্ষেত্রে should ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – He should have read sincerely.
