Paragraph on Bangabandhu Satellite – 1
The Bangabandhu -1 Satellite (উপগ্রহ) is a milestone (মাইলফলক) in scientific (বৈজ্ঞানিক) research (গবেষণা) of the country. It is the first Bangladeshi geostationary (ভূ-স্থির) communications (যোগাযোগ / আদানপ্রদান) satellite. It is named after the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was launched (উৎক্ষেপণ করা / প্রেরণ করা) from the Kennedy Space Center (মহাকাশ কেন্দ্র) in Florida, the USA at 2.14 am on May 12, 2018. The project is being implemented (বাস্তবায়িত করা) by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). The satellite is expected (আশা করা / অনুমান করা) to be located at (অবস্থিত) the 119.1’ East longitude (পূর্ব দ্রাঘিমাংশ) geostationary (ভূ-স্থির) slot (খাঁজ – কোন কিছুর জন্য সঠিক বা উপযুক্ত স্থান). It is designed (নকশা) and manufactured (প্রস্তুত করা) by Thales Alenia Space and its launch provider (প্রদানকারী) is SpaceX. The total cost of the satellite was projected by 248 million US dollars. Two ground stations (স্থল স্টেশন) for controlling the satellite have already been built at Joydebpur of Gazipur and Ranghamati’s Betbunia. The satellite has 15 years for mission life span while another three for its design. The Bangabandhu-1 is a big step forward towards achieving (অর্জন করা) self-dependency (স্ব-নির্ভরতা). It will open up enormous (বিশাল / প্রচুর) opportunities (সুযোগ-সুবিধা) providing (দেওয়া / সরবরাহ করা) three types of advantages (সুযোগ-সুবিধা) involving (অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা) fields of information and communication technology (ICT) and broadcasting (সম্প্রচার) industry (শিল্প) alongside (পাশাপাশি) brightening (উজ্জ্বল করা) Bangladesh image (ভাবমূর্তি). It will save the country a huge (বিশাল) amount of foreign currency (বৈদেশিক মুদ্রা) spent on buying satellite bandwidth from foreign companies. Besides, it will give impetus (চালিকা শক্তি / কর্মতৎপরতা) to telecommunication service and television broadcasting. Moreover, it will also improve (উন্নত করা বা হওয়া) meteorological data collection (আবহাওয়া অথ্য সংগ্রহ), weather (আবহাওয়া) prediction (ভবিষৎবাণী) capacity (যোগ্যতা / সামর্থ্য), and mapping of natural (প্রাকৃতিক) resources (সম্পদ).
