Man has many enemies, both outside and
inside. Of them all, the worst is his tendency to speak in an unwholesome
manner. If he is not sufficiently careful in his words, he can quite easily get
into trouble. By uttering a word, a man can offend another’s feelings and rouse
his anger. One silly offensive comment can turn one’s friend into a deadly
enemy, who may seek to ruin the offender. Uncontrolled use of the faculty of
speech can bring untold misery to one and can lead one to death and
destruction. Many friendships have been ended by unguarded utterances and a lot
of enmity is created by offensive remarks and careless and trivial words. As
the careless exercise of the faculty of speech can lead to all these
unfortunate things, it is the deadliest enemy of mankind.
