expresses a very practical truth. A good man is always respected in our
society. If a man makes a spot in his life, it is very difficult to remove it
from his character. A thief or a dishonest man cannot purify himself because
everybody knows him as a thief or a dishonest man. This proverb teaches us that
we should not judge things by their outward appearance. A person may be well
dressed and may look like a gentleman but in reality, he may be a cheat or a
thief. In fact, the wicked generally cheat others in this way. These kinds of
people are hated everywhere. Plato Says “Habit is not trifle” Habit, good or
bad depends on the basis of character.” A bad habit causes loss to oneself and
irritates others. Whenever we do something, again and again, it becomes a habit
in our character. It is very difficult to change.

বাহ্যিক চেহারা দেখে আমাদের বিচার করা উচিত নয়। একজন ব্যক্তি উত্তম পোশাক পরিহিত হতে
পারে অথবা ভদ্রলোক বেশধারী হতে পারে কিন্তু বাস্তবে সে একজন প্রতারক অথবা চোর হতে পারে।
প্রকৃতপক্ষে, দুষ্টু লোকেরা সাধারণত এভাবে অন্যদের প্রতারণা করে। এই ধরনের মানুষেরা
সর্বত্র ঘৃণিত হয়। প্লেটো বলেন, “অভ্যাস তুচ্ছ কোনো বস্তু নয়। অভ্যাস ভালো না খারাপ
তা চরিত্রের ভিত্তির উপর নির্ভর করে”। একটা খারাপ অভ্যাস নিজের ক্ষতিসাধন করে এবং অন্যদের
যন্ত্রণা দেয়। আমরা যখনই বারংবার কোনোকিছু করি তখন তাই আমাদের চরিত্রে একটা অভ্যাসে
পরিণত হয়। এটি পরিবর্তন করা কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে।
