A Stitch in Time Saves Nine: A small rent in a piece of cloth quite
easily be mended if it is attended to when it is small. But if the proper
moment is allowed to pass away by thinking that the rent is an insignificant
thing, its mending will call for a good deal of labour. So, the rent may become
bigger and bigger with the passage of time and eventually go beyond the scope
of repair, with the result that the piece of cloth turns out unfit for use.
Such is the case with all evils. All evils can be easily removed with a little
timely care. But if they are allowed to take their own course, they will get
harder and harder to cope with and may even lead to total damage.

সেলাই করে ঠিক করা যায় যখন তা ছোট্র থাকে। কিন্তু যদি উপযুক্ত সময় নষ্ঠ করে ফেলা হয়
এই ভেবে যে, ছেঁড়াটা কোনো ব্যাপার নয় এবং ঠিক করতে হলে অনেক পরিশ্রম করতে হবে। তাহলে
ছিদ্র সময়ের সাথে সাথে বড়ো হতে থাকবে এবং এক সময় তা আর ঠিক করা যাবে না। ফলে এক সময়
কাপড়টি আর ব্যবহার করা যাবে না। মন্দ বিষয়ের ব্যাপারও তাই। সকল ধরনের মন্দ কাজই ঠিক
সময়ে সতর্ক হবার মাধ্যমে দূর করা যেতে পারে। কিন্তু যদি মন্দ কাজকর্মকে তার গতিতেই
চলতে দেওয়া হয় তবে তা সমালানো দিন দিন কঠিনতর হবে এবং এক সময় পুরোপুরি ধ্বংসের কারণ
হয়ে দাঁড়াবে।
