Etiquette is the way that a man behaves with the people surrounding him in a wide variety of situations. It is a set of practices or norms that a man follows within a particular society or culture. Each society has its own distinct etiquette and various cultures and society also have their own rules and social norms. So, etiquette varies from culture to culture or society to society, country to country. Learning etiquette is a continuous process. It cannot be learned overnight in any institution. It is learned gradually living in a society. Society or social, institutions are suitable places to learn etiquette. The rules of etiquette govern how people behave. There is some common etiquette followed in every culture or society or country. Again there are different norms and behavior followed by different societies or cultures. The concept of greeting people politely and with respect is common to the etiquette of many cultures and countries, the way in which that respect is expressed may vary. In some Asian countries, people generally bow or clasp their hands together when greeting someone. But in the United States, people normally shake hands or hug each other. The Muslim people exchange salaam as a form of greeting. Etiquette is the reflection of one’s society or culture. So, a man in society should be careful about etiquette. Any sort of lapse might form an unfavorable expression of the offender. It may cost one a loss of friendship or a job. So, we as a member of a particular society should be careful about the etiquette of the society concerned and try to follow them properly.
