Samia has heard many fearful stories about ghosts from her beloved grandmother in her childhood. During the last summer vacation, she went to her maternal uncle’s house in Chittagong to spend a few days. Her maternal uncle’s house was over a hill. There were hundreds of trees all around the house. The atmosphere was quite silent and phantom. One day after having supper she went to bed. Alas! There happened an unpleasant and terrible incident. At midnight she suddenly heard a shrill cry. She woke up. She heard the sound again. She was trembling with fear. She remembered the stories of ghost told by her grandmother. She thought that it might be the sound of a ghost. She was very afraid and began to cry. She could not sleep the whole night. The sound haunted her the whole night. When the night was over, she was relieved from the unexpected frightening situation of the night.
